Admission related FAQs
1. I do not have the marksheet for 3rd year (or 5th and/or 6th Semester) or degree certificate. What should I do?
You will be able to submit your application without these documents. However, you will have to specify the subjects in the duly signed Declaration Form. All other documents required for admission are must.
2. What is the deadline for the submission of documents, in case I am unable to submit them along with my application to admission?
Documents which are not submitted to the Organizing Institute during registration should be submitted within the timeline provided by the respective admitting Institute.
3. Due to COVID 19, I do not have a marksheet for certain semester(s). What should I do in this case?
You must submit a document to this effect duly certified by the Head of the Institution in lieu of marksheet(s). The document should explicitly mention the subjects taken in that semester/year, to evaluate the MEQ requirements for admission to a specific programme.
4. How do I make the fee payment for JAM 2025 Admission?
The payment option will appear after filling the online application form in JAM 2025 website. The mode of Payment is only Online (Net banking / Debit card / Credit card / UPI). The application fee is ₹750/- for all the candidate. Refer to application fees, mentioned in the JAM-2025 website:
5. I have already paid my application fee. However, the JAM 2025 application portal shows that the payment is not done.
Please logout of the JAM 2025 application portal and login after some time to check if the payment is reflected. If not, send an email to jam@admin.iitd.ac.in
Please follow the below procedure
1. Please login JOAPS Portal with your Credentials.
2. Click the "Proceed to Payment" button. It will direct you to payment page and please proceed to pay the application fee once again.
3. In case, your previous payment is Success, it will automatically update and redirect you to the JAM 2025 Application page.
4. If your payment is unsuccessful, click the "Proceed to Payment" button till success. The unsuccessful payment will be credited back to your account within 7 working days.
6. How many preferences can I fill in the admission form?
There is no limit to the number of preferences that you can provide. All programmes eligible (refer to MEQ section) for the test paper(s), where you have scored marks above the cut-off, can be chosen.
7. Which Certificate should I upload for Nationality?
You have to upload one of the following Certificates for Nationality.
a. Birth Certificate
b. Voter Id
c. First page of Passport
d. School Transfer Certificate (TC) showing Nationality
e. Nationality Certificate issued by the authorized government agency.
Some of the documents that are NOT accepted for Nationality are:
Aadhaar Card, Ration Card, Bank Passbook, Marksheet, PAN Card, Driving License, School/ College ID etc.
In case you DO NOT have document to support nationality please upload Declaration form.
Please note that Nationality Certificate must be submitted to the Admitting Institute at the time of admission.
8. How do I add records in 'Qualifying Degree Academic Details & Documents' section?
You should add subject papers of a semester, one by one (i.e. one paper at a time), in the pop-up window appearing on clicking the 'Add records' button. Similarly, you repeat the same with other semesters/years. If your programme is not semester-wise then select 'NA' in semester field and add all the papers year wise.
9. For each semester do I have to add separately the marks obtained for each paper?
Yes
10. What should I upload in the Qualifying Degree certificate field?
The documents must be uploaded year-wise only. If there are two semesters in a year, then the documents of the two semesters have to be uploaded together as a single .pdf file not exceeding the size 4 MB. 11. Are category certificates issued in the regional languages accepted?
Category certificates issued in regional languages are accepted, if they are signed by competent authorities as mentioned in the JAM 2025 admission brochure.(refer Annexure V)
12. When and how do I know whether I have been offered a programme?
FPlease refer to JAM-2025 important dates section. First set of offers are likely to be made by May 26, 2025 (Monday). Information will be sent by Email/SMS and will be displayed on the online JOAPS portal. Second and subsequent offers will be made depending on the availability of the seats. Candidates should note that being in the Merit List of any Test Paper neither guarantees nor provides any automatic entitlement for admission. Admissions shall be made in order of merit and depending on the number of seats available at the Admitting Institute(s)
13. What are the options available when I receive an offer of admission?
After an admission offer is made, the candidates will have THREE options on the online JOAPS Portal:
Option 1: Accept and Freeze
Option 2: Accept with Upgrade
Option 3: Reject and Quit

14. How will I know the status of any offer?
You can check the offer status, according to the scheduled dates (Refer Admission Schedule), by logging in to JOAPS Portal.
15. Can I withdraw after accepting the offer?
A Candidate can withdraw the offer of admission by clicking the 'Withdraw' button on JAM 2025 Admission Portal. This option would be available from 07 June to 07 July, 2025. Please refer to JAM-2025 important dates section. The Seat Booking Fee (if paid by them) would be refunded after deducting a Processing Fee of ₹6,000/- by August 15, 2025.
16. After declining/rejecting (Option 3: Reject and Quit) the offer, can I be considered further in the admission process?
NO. After declining/rejecting the offer in a particular round, you WILL NOT be considered in further rounds of the admission process.
17. What will happen if a candidate does not access or does not make a decision during a round of offer?
If a candidate does NOT access the JOAPS portal and NOT Chosen any options within the stipulated time period, the offered Seat will be automatically CANCELLED and will NOT be considered in further rounds of the admission process.
