Admission Process

An Applicant will be considered for admission only to the programme choices filled in the Admission Form. There will be FOUR rounds of admission, in the normal case. If seats remain vacant, additional rounds may be conducted. Applicants receiving an offer in any of the rounds are required to login at https://joaps.iitd.ac.in within the stipulated time and choose one of the three options viz.

Options Description
(a) Accept and Freeze By choosing "Accept and Freeze", the Applicant accepts the offered seat and would NOT like to upgrade to higher preferences in the subsequent rounds.
(b) Accept with Upgrade By choosing "Accept with Upgrade", the Applicant accepts the offered seat, but would like to upgrade to higher preferences in the subsequent rounds.
(c) Reject and Quit By choosing "Reject and Quit", the Applicant rejects the offered seat and would NOT like to continue in the admission process. The seat offered to the Applicant would be cancelled and the Applicant will not be considered in further rounds of the admission process. For "Reject and Quit" decision, the applicants will receive a One Time Password (OTP) on their registered mobile number. The OTP has to be entered to confirm the decision.

When an applicant chooses "Accept and Freeze" or "Accept with Upgrade" decision for the first time, the Applicant will be directed to an online payment portal to pay the Seat Booking Fee of ₹15,000/- for General/OBC-NCL/EWS category Applicants and ₹7,500/- for SC/ST/PwD category within the stipulated time period. The Seat Booking Fee will be transferred to the Admitting Institute and will be adjusted against the Institute Fee at the time of Admission.

  • Based on the order of preferences given by the candidate in the Admission Form and corresponding rank(s) in the Merit List, the First Admission List will be prepared on or before May 26, 2025. The candidates are required to login to the portal to view their status.
  • Applicants who are offered seat in the First Round must login to Candidate Portal and choose one of the three options discussed above on or before May 30, 2025.
  • If seats remain vacant after the first round of admission, a Second Admission List will be prepared on or before June 08, 2025. The candidates who chose "Accept with Upgrade" in the previous round are required to login to the portal to view their current seat allocation.
  • Applicants who are offered seat in the Second Round must login to Candidate Portal and choose one of the three options discussed above on or before June 11, 2025.
  • If seats remain vacant after the second round of admission, a Third Admission List will be prepared by June 16, 2025. The candidates who chose "Accept with Upgrade" in the previous round are required to login to the portal to view their current seat allocation.
  • Applicants who are offered seat in the Third List must login to Candidate Portal and choose one of the three options discussed above on or before June 20, 2025.
  • If seats remain vacant after the third round of admission, a Fourth Admission List will be prepared by June 30, 2025. The candidates who chose "Accept with Upgrade" in the previous round are required to login to the portal to view their current seat allocation.
  • Applicants who are offered seat in the Fourth Round must login to Candidate Portal and choose one of the three options discussed above on or before July 03, 2025.
  • The Applicants who were offered a seat can CANCEL the offer by logging into Candidate Portal and choosing "Withdraw". This option would be available from June 07 to July 07, 2025. The Seat Booking Fee (if paid by them) would be refunded after deducting a Processing Fee of ₹6,000/- by August 15, 2025.
  • Offer letters from the admitting Institutes will be available for downloading by the candidates through Candidate Portal, after the final round of admissions. The Applicants who are offered a seat should report to the Admitting Institutes along with the required documents, as per their offer letter.
  • The biometric (fingerprint) data of the candidate captured on the day of JAM 2025 examination will be used by the Admitting Institute for verifying the identity of the applicant and it has to match with the candidate being admitted.

Note:

  • In each round of offer (Admission List), candidates should login to the JOAPS (https://joaps.iitd.ac.in) portal to view their offer and status.
  • Candidates who have NOT accessed JOAPS portal and NOT Chosen any options within the stipulated time period, the offered Seat will be automatically Cancelled and will NOT be considered in further rounds of the admission process.
  • The dates mentioned above are tentative and they are subjected to change.
